In Madrid the heat tightens and to remedy it and even though we are very far from the sea, we propose to go to the pool.
Yes! Madrid has many options to cool us off in summer! We have prepared a post in which we list the main (and most central) outdoor pools. To swim, sunbathe or fight the heat for only 4.5o the full day… take note!
Madrid’s swimming pools are open from 15 May to 15 September
In the very traditional neighborhood of Madrid (north of the center) we find the swimming pool of the Isabel II canal that has been open since 1930! A complex of sports spaces, football fields, tennis courts, rooms, gyms, pavilions and an outdoor pool of more than 25 m.
Metro: Canal (lines 7 and 2), Ríos Rosas(Line 1)
Bus: 3, 12, 45, 149, 202
Pretty far from the center. Many of us call it the Union Park pool, the name with which it was originally opened. It is today the largest swimming pool in the Community of Madrid.

It consists of three swimming pools linked together: a general one with an area of 5,693 square meters to which is added an Olympic pool of 800 square meters and another children with 765 square meters of water sheet. Almost 7 times bigger than an Olympic pool.
It was at the time of its opening the largest swimming pool in Europe. Popularly known as the beach of Madrid.
Bus: 83 and 133
The most central of the listed pools. Easily accessible by metro and in an area of interest (next to the river and in the heart of Casa de Campo park), the Casa de Campo pool is one of the busiest. It has an Olympic swimming pool of 50 meters, another of 33 meters and a smaller one for children.
Lake (L10), Puerta del Angel (L6)
Going to the public pool in Madrid will cost you only 4.50 euros / the full day
Close to the 4 towers that many will have had the opportunity to see from the window of the plane, this sports center has two twin Olympic swimming pools of 50 meters plus a smaller child. 70000 square meters in a very very complete facility. In addition, it is the only swimming pool in Madrid that has a nudist area.
South of the river we find the municipal sports facility of Aluche. It is one of the largest sports complexes in southern Madrid. Not only will you find a swimming pool but also skating rinks, football fields, etc.
Aquópolis is a water park located 40 minutes from Madrid. Fun rides like kamikaze or turbolance await you there. If you are more relaxed you can enjoy your day in the so-called Malibu beach. A fun park for a very different day.
